ASHA Youth Scholarships
Since 1991, the American Saddlebred Horse Association has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to youth involved with American Saddlebreds. Each year, ASHA recognizes its members in grade 11 or higher, age 21 and under, on the basis of academic success, financial need, extracurricular activities, including community service, involvement with American Saddlebred horses and personal references. An interview may be included in the selection process, and applicants are asked to write an essay, which includes information about school experiences, special interests, hobbies and ASHA activities.
The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage, support and recognize participation in all aspects of the American Saddlebred industry, as well as to strengthen the American Saddlebred industry and breed through education. The Youth-to-Youth Scholarship is funded by donations and guaranteed to $5,000 by the Association. There is also one $2,500 scholarship funded by the American Saddlebred Association of Alabama.
